Since its foundation in 1930, Makassed General Hospital (MGH), located in Beirut’s Tarik al Jdidah district, has been committed to making high-quality healthcare universally accessible in Lebanon. The hospital has grown in size and in its reputation for excellence.
In 2015 alone, it provided medical care to more than 15,000 Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian inpatients and 60,000 outpatients from the three communities.The Hospital budget allocates $1,000,000 for patients in need of financial assistance.

This Center is affiliated with Institut Gustave Roussy–Université de Paris, which not only ensures a high standard of therapy, but also 70% lower costs than those in Europe and the U.S., making it more affordable and accessible than other major centers of its kind in Lebanon.
The first successful bone marrow transplant in Lebanon was performed at MGH in 1997.
Makassed’s commitment to providing the highest quality care has been acknowledged by leading health-care associations, and its services have earned numerous accreditations, placing Makassed hospital among the highest-ranked specialized hospitals in Lebanon.
MGH is ISO certified and rated class “A” by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. In 2014, the Dietary Department at MGH received HACCP certification. Currently MGH’s Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit is preparing for JACIE accreditation.
Makassed Hospital offers postgraduate medical and fellowship training programs for physicians through its affiliations with the American University of Beirut (AUB) and Beirut Arab University (BAU), as well as Lille University in France.
